Former Governor Nemesio "Nemitz" G. Beltran, was born on September 25, 1929, in Balingasag, Misamis Oriental, Philippines. A son of an automotive mechanic, Nemitz is the eldest in a family of seven. His mother, Maria E. Galdo, died when Nemitz was only ten (10) years of age thereby leaving under his care the younger siblings especially during the outbreak of World War II when his father, the late Felicisimo C. Beltran, was imprisoned by the Japanese Imperial Army. Nemitz was a working student throughout his entire life supporting his way through College and earning a degree of Bachelor of Laws from the University of Manila.
After graduation in the College of Law, Nemitz married Linda Melendez Barroso of Malaybalay, Bukidnon, Philippines; Nemitz and Linda agreed that Bukidnon is the best place to raise their nine (9) children - all are now professionals in their respective fields, four (4) of whom are lawyers following the footsteps of their illustrious father. One of the siblings, Nemesio, Jr., is a Board Member representing the 2nd District of the Province of Bukidnon.
Admitted to the practice of law on May 9, 1959, Nemitz started his professional career as a trial lawyer becoming one of the best trial lawyers the Province of Bukidnon has ever had.
When the
nine (9) children were already grown up, Nemitz and Linda agreed that it is time to enter public service. Nemitz was first elected as Provincial Board Member; in the next regular election, Nemitz was elected as Vice-Governor and subsequently re-elected for three (3) consecutive terms; and later becoming as Governor of the Province of Bukidnon.
After his sterling career in Public Service, Nemitz went back to his first love, the practice of law, continuing his service and dedication to the People of Bukidnon that has given him so much... more than one could ever imagine. Nemitz and Linda are active members of Jesus in the Mountain Charismatic Renewal Community spreading the good news to his constituency.
